Snappiness Anniversary EP

Repro Snappiness

Hoax Records are proud to present Repro's Snappiness Anniversary EP as a digital only release celebrating the track's 25 year anniversary.

If you are new to Snappiness, it is an instrumental track originally by BBG with a shuffling 106 bpm rhythm, a bubbling bass line with ambient synth sounds, that was combined with a piano riff that was 'borrowed' (not sampled) from Soul II Soul's 'Happiness'. Snappiness was originally promoted as a 12” white label on Hoax Records and was played by such notable DJs as Pete Tong, Danny Rampling and Andy Weatherall. After appearing in the cool cuts charts it was signed by Polydor records and was a top 30 hit. It has since appeared on countless compilations and is regarded by many as an Ibiza Classic.

The new Snappiness EP has 5 versions available.

The Anniversary mix is an uptempo 126 bpm that manages to capture most of the character of the 106 bpm original including the long spacey drop. The Anniversary Edit is a radio friendly edit without the DJ intros and outros.

The Adversary Mix 126 bpm contrasts some of the original elements with some harder adverse sounds.

The Downplayed Mix is a 90 bpm version, which has appeared previously on a compilation on Neo Records while the Devolution mix is a 90 bpm beatless mix that appeared on a Danny Rampling compilation on Defected Records. Both the down tempo mixes have been remastered for the new release.
